Day Classes & Hiking Trips  (Spring & Summer)

Standard Gear list:
  • Fixed blade Knife  or Locking Folder Knife
  • Bic Lighter
  • Rain gear 
  • Light weight hiking boots
  • Sun Glasses & Sun Block , Wide Brim Hat
  • Trail Snacks for shorter classes
  • Water Bottle (at least 32 oz)
  • Bag Lunch (full-day trips)
  • 100' of  Milspec Paracord, or Mariners Tarred Nylon Line #36 (Bankline)
  • Wool sweater or packable fleece Jacket, wool hat
  •  Headlamp
  • Bug spray or rub
  • Small backpack to hold it all​

Self Reliance Classes (Wilderness Survival) additonal to above
  • ​Fixed blade knife ( 3-5 inch smooth blade) Carbon preferred  90* Spine
  • Ferrocerium Rod, Waterproof matches , Fire Starting Tinder
  • Reusable Space blanket, or Tarp of your choice  (Must be 5' x 7' minimum)
  • 2 - 55 gallon drum liners
  • Personal First Aid Kit, 3 cotton bandanas or 3'x 3' piece of 100% Cotton material 
  • Bahco Folding Saw or similar
  • Orienteering Compass, Pace beads
  • Water Bottle 32 oz. or Cook Pot, Cup & Spoon ( Bottle Must be Stainless steel)
  • Fresnel Lens or Magnifying Glass, Flint & Steel kit
  • 1 Roll of Gorilla brand Duct tape
  • Include everything in standard list

Animal Tracking Classes
  • 2 pencils & personal notebook
  • Camera
  • 16-24 foot measuring tape
  • Photographic Scale or Six inch ruler
  • Large Folding Ruler (plumber style)
  • Tweezers & several zip-loc sandwich bags

Day Classes & Snowshoe Trips  (Winter)

  • Wind Shell Layer  (Cotton Anorak or Gore shell)
  • Dress in 3 Primary Layers Wicking, Insulation, Shell   (Wool & Fleece)
  • Waterproof boots, Gaiters
  • Warm Hat, Scarf or Neck Warmer, and Gloves or Mitts
  • Snowshoes, Crampons or Microspikes & Poles if needed
  • Sun Glasses, Sun Block

  • Orienteering Compass, Pace beads
  • Water Bottle 32 oz. or Cook Pot, Cup & Spoon ( Bottle Must be Stainless steel)

  • Trekking toboggan or Pulk type sled Homemade is fine
  • Axe or Take-down Bucksaw
  • Back country shovel
